Man Utd now ‘discussing’ swap deal for Inter star; claims staff are ‘shocked, upset and angry’ at INEOS

Man Utd could look to swap Aaron Wan-Bissaka for Inter Milan defender Denzel Dumfries as they are set to lose out on Noussair Mazraoui, according to reports. The Athletic journalist David Ornstein insists that Bayern Munich full-back Mazraoui is ‘closing in’ on a deal to West Ham, while Man Utd ‘retain an interest’. Ornstein adds that the Hammers ‘have club and player agreements for the Morocco international in place, with the proposed transfer advanced but not yet done,’ while any deal to Man Utd ‘would require Aaron Wan-Bissaka to depart’. The former Crystal Palace right-back has snubbed West Ham and ‘favours a move’ to Serie A giants Inter Milan, while the Athletic journalist adds: ‘An idea that would see Wan-Bissaka go to Inter and Denzel Dumfries join Manchester United is being discussed by intermediaries, although that possible switch is not advanced as things stand.’ Man Utd are also in the market for a new left-back and transfer expert Fabrizio Romano insists that the Red Devils have not made “any approach” for former Chelsea defender Marcos Alonso. Romano wrote in his Caught Offside column: “I’ve been saying for several months now that Manchester United want to sign a new left-back – Tyrell Malacia is back now but still not fit, while Luke Shaw has often had problems with injuries, so Man United still need some more cover there and there have been rumours about Marcos Alonso, the former Chelsea player who is available on a free after leaving Barcelona. “Let’s see what happens in the next weeks, but I’m told that, as of today, Alonso’s camp has not received any approach from Manchester United. As of today, there are no talks or negotiations, but of course let’s see what happens because we know things can happen quickly with free agents as you can close the deal in one day because you don’t need to negotiate club-to-club.

Fulham Close to Signing ‘Forward-Looking’ Arsenal Player in Record Transfer

Arsenal are gearing up for a major transfer exit as they near an agreement with London rivals Fulham for fan-favourite Emile Smith Rowe. According to The Athletic’s David Ornstein, Fulham are close to reaching an agreement with Arsenal for the transfer of Smith Rowe. If accepted, the deal would be worth £35 million. This would be a record move for both clubs. The Gunners’ biggest sale was Alex Oxlade-Chamberlain to Liverpool in 2017. He was sold for £35 million, the same amount as the current offer for Smith Rowe. The Cottagers’ most expensive signing was Jean Michael Seri, signed from OGC Nice for £27 million in 2018. Though Fulham’s first bid of around £30 million was rejected a few weeks back, they kept pursuing the Englishman. And now they look set to have achieved success in this transfer saga. The money received from this deal will be accounted for as pure profit since Smith Rowe is an Arsenal academy product. A huge sale such as this will provide sporting director Edu Gaspar the financial leeway to make more big-money signings. Injuries have been the biggest spoilsport in Smith Rowe’s career. The “forward-looking“ Arsenal midfielder was forced to miss 31 games in the last two seasons due to injuries. Consequently, he couldn’t play in a continuous stretch of games, making it difficult to prove his worth to Mikel Arteta. Even while fit, Smith Rowe was mostly listed as a substitute. A player as skilled as the 23-year-old was never content with the role of a bench warmer. Thus, he was open to a Fulham move. Hence, as heart-breaking as it might be for Arsenal fans to see one of their own leave the club, Fulham will provide Smith Rowe with more minutes on the pitch.

Amadou Onana explains why he snubbed Man Utd to make £50m Aston Villa transfer move

Amadou Onana has explained his decision to join Aston Villa in a £50million transfer deal, despite interest from Manchester United. Onana, 22, had been tipped for a move to Old Trafford before signing on the dotted line at Villa Park, putting pen to paper on a five-year contract. Villa paid Everton a club-record fee to sign the Belgium international, who played every minute of their Euro 2024 campaign. United were linked with Onana throughout last season and the Red Devils remain keen on recruiting a young, defensive-minded midfielder to succeed Casemiro. Arsenal were also credited with interest but it's not the 'glamour' of those clubs that Onana wanted. In an interview with Belgian outlet La Derniere Heure after joining Villa, he explained: "I think that's where I should be [Villa]. And for me, Aston Villa is part of the top of English football. The ranking speaks for itself and is significant. The general public may think that it is not the most glamorous club but it was the best choice for the player I am today. "The question does not arise because Aston Villa is a top club. I went where I felt the right ambition and the best project to make me grow." Onana, who swapped Lille for Everton in 2022, added: "I'm just extremely happy to be here. I was able to feel the atmosphere at the club a little, meet the various employees of Aston Villa. The vibe is good, the mood is good, I'm ready to get to work. "They come out of an excellent season with a fourth place. And you add to that the fact that the environment seemed to me the most conducive to my development and that I will be able to work with Unai Emery, one of the most qualified coaches in the field. I can learn a lot of things by his side and reach the next level. "I have always been very in tune with this objective of constant improvement. It was the perfect step. Everything has been calculated and analysed, I am where I was supposed to be." United's focus has now turned to Paris Saint-Germain midfielder Manuel Ugarte. The 23-year-old Uruguayan only signed for PSG last summer, costing €60million (£51m) from Sporting Lisbon, but he's now the subject of talks between the two clubs.

Filip Jorgensen agrees personal terms with Chelsea

Chelsea and Filip Jorgensen have reportedly sealed an agreement on personal terms, with the Blues a step closer to landing the 22-year-old from La Liga club Villarreal. According to reputed Italian journalist Fabrizio Romano, Filip Jorgensen is the subject of interest from Chelsea. The Villarreal goalkeeper has already agreed on personal terms with the West London club. So, the Blues are one step closer to bringing the 22-year-old from La Liga to the Premier League in the summer transfer window. Filip Jorgensen has established himself as one of the best young goalkeepers in La Liga since breaking into the first-team squad at Villarreal. A native of Lomma, Sweden, he began his youth career in his hometown before arriving in Spain in January 2014. Short spells at AD Penya Arrabal and RCD Mallorca followed before he joined Villarreal in July 2015. Since then, the 22-year-old has come leaps and bounds, rapidly rising through the ranks at Villarreal before making his first-team bow in December 2021. However, Jorgensen had to wait until the 2023/24 campaign to become a regular for the Yellow Submarine, missing only two La Liga games last term. Meanwhile, the Swedish-born goalkeeper currently represents Denmark in age-group football, although he is eligible to represent both countries internationally. Jorgensen’s progress has not gone unnoticed, capturing the attention of several high-profile clubs across Europe. However, the youngster’s next destination will likely be Chelsea. Chelsea’s interest in Filip Jorgensen is understandable. While the Blues have signed several goalkeepers in the recent years, including two last summer, they have failed to hit the jackpot. So, they have scoured the market for a goalkeeper in this summer’s transfer window, with the Villarreal shot-stopper emerging as the top target. The West London club’s interest has turned Filip Jorgensen’s head, and he has been keen on moving to Stamford Bridge in the last few days. The latest update revealed an agreement on personal terms between Chelsea and the Denmark under-21 international. An agreement on the transfer fee between Chelsea and Villarreal is all that remains for the 22-year-old to swap La Liga for the Premier League. It will be interesting to see if the Blues seal the deal to sign Jorgensen anytime soon, with their pre-season campaign already starting.

Dani Olmo: FC Barcelona are not giving up their pursuit for the Manchester United target

As reported by Mundo Deportivo, Barcelona’s initial offer to Leipzig consisted of €40 million in fixed installments and an additional €20 million in variables. The player’s agents made this offer due to Olmo’s good relationship with his current club. However, Leipzig, preferring a more immediate financial injection, has insisted on receiving most of the €60 million release clause in cash. The latest updates reveal that Barcelona remains actively engaged in negotiations, working to adjust their offer to meet Leipzig’s financial demands. Barca’s proposal includes a structured salary plan where Olmo would initially earn less, with increased remuneration from the third season onward. Olmo, prioritizing Barcelona, remains open to other offers due to the financial constraints they face. Bayern Munich and Manchester City have also expressed interest in the playmaker. The latest update suggests that Barcelona is making progress in negotiations, with Olmo’s agents successfully negotiating a temporary extension of the release clause figure and ongoing discussions about the payment structure and contract terms. Manchester United, previously linked with Dani Olmo, could be significantly affected by these developments. With Barcelona making a strong push to secure Olmo, United might find their chances of signing the talented midfielder dwindling. The competitive nature of this transfer market, coupled with Barcelona’s determined negotiations, suggests that United will need to explore alternative targets to strengthen their midfield.

Carlo Ancelotti reveals which position Kylian Mbappe will play in Real Madrid's star-studded attack

Carlo Ancelotti has finally revealed which position Kylian Mbappe will play in Real Madrid's new star-studded attack. Mbappe officially signed for Real on July 1 after his PSG contract expired, with his presentation taking place following the completion of Euro 2024. The Frenchman took the number nine shirt that formerly belonged to Karim Benzema and had been unused during the 2023/24 campaign. Mbappe's preferred number is 10, but he wanted veteran midfielder Luka Modric to keep that particular shirt. The 24-year-old did not make his Real debut in their 3-0 friendly win over Albacete on Wednesday as he has been granted a period of rest following France's progression to the semi-final of Euro 2024. But Real fans won't have to wait long to see him in action - particularly as the club's medical staff have reportedly determined that he does need to have surgery on the broken nose he suffered at Euro 2024. Speaking ahead of Mbappe's much-anticipated debut, Real manager Ancelotti appeared on the Obi One Podcast - hosted by former Chelsea midfielder John Obi Mikel - to tell listeners that the Frenchman will play up front, but can be interchangeable. He explained: "I see him playing up front. The front, the attack, is quite wide - the pitch is 68 metres. We have to cover these 68 metres with the players in front. "If I ask you where Vinicius played last season, it's difficult to say. He didn't [always] play as a left winger, he moved. "The important key to the attacking players is the mobility of the players. Sometimes they can play on the left, sometimes down the middle. "Bellingham sometimes played on the left, sometimes in the middle, sometimes went to the right. Rodrygo started most of the game on the right, sometimes I saw him playing on the left. So it's important, the mobility. "I want to give them freedom. They have to be able to manage the situation of the game. We played one game against City with both Vinicius and Rodrygo on the left, because we thought we could take advantage.

Alphonso Davies deal on ice? Real Madrid agree new contract with left-back Ferland Mendy as they wait for Bayern Munich star

Alphonso Davies has been made to wait as Real Madrid have reportedly agreed to a new contract with left-back Ferland Mendy. According to Marca, Los Blancos have agreed to keep the French defender at the Santiago Bernabeu until June 2027, with an option for an additional season. Mendy, whose current contract was due to expire in 2025, received the renewal offer from Real Madrid's hierarchy a few weeks ago and the defender is expected to formalize the agreement shortly after he returns from his vacation, following his participation in France's Euro 2024 campaign. The 2023-24 season marked a turning point in Mendy's career at Real Madrid. After struggling with injuries for a significant part of his tenure, Mendy regained his fitness and form, becoming the first-choice left-back under manager Carlo Ancelotti. His impressive performances have solidified his place in the team which has led Ancelotti to become a strong advocate for Mendy's continued presence at the club. While Mendy's contract extension ensures stability in the left-back position, Real Madrid's ambitions extend beyond retaining their current stars. The club are reportedly eyeing Bayern Munich's Davies who has a contract with the Bundesliga giants until 2025. Negotiations for an extension have stalled with Bayern despite the German club proposing a substantial pay increase, as it falls short of his demands of €20 million (£17m/$22m) per year. Mendy's resurgence and commitment to the club have been pivotal, ensuring his place in the team's future plans. He is likely to be back at Valdebebas after the first week of August, along with the latest Galactico Kylian Mbappe, as Ancelotti would look to field a full-strength XI against Atalanta in the UEFA Super Cup on August 14.

Diogo Jota says Arsenal have a £45m player who’s even better than Paulo Dybala

Diogo Jota has made a claim about one of Arsenal’s players and Roma star Paulo Dybala. The Portuguese striker was speaking to Goal about some of the best players in world football today. Jota was asked to rank five footballing stars from best to worst, and, interestingly, he placed Arsenal’s Gabriel Jesus ahead of Dybala. Indeed, Jota had Dybala down as the fifth-best player on his list, while he put Jesus just ahead of the Argentine striker. Jota spoke about the £45m Arsenal star and his Argentine counterpart. “Paolo Dybala?” Jota was askaed. “Number five,” Jota said. “Gabriel Jesus? “Fourth,” Jota said. It’s interesting to hear that Jota has put Jesus ahead of Dybala. This isn’t the first time these two players have been compared. In fact, Neymar has previously named the two forwards as a pair of his favourite players in world football. “Of the new generation, I like (Antoine) Griezmann very much, but I have a great affection for Gabriel Jesus,” Neymar said. “I love him for how he plays and because we play together in the Selecao and we did at the Rio Olympic Games. “He has entered the main Selecao very well, he is a boy with a lot of potential. “I will also say Dybala, the famous Argentinian left-footer. If you leave him alone, he can hurt you. On Wednesday, we [Barcelona] will not be able to leave him any space.” The fact that Jesus is being spoken about in this way is a testament to his ability, and while there were rumours that Arsenal were looking to sell Jesus this summer, it now looks as though the striker is going to stay at Arsenal. Jesus and Dybala are two of the best South American exports of the past 10 years, and it’s hard to separate the two in terms of ability.

Roma gain hope in move for Girona’s Artem Dovbyk

Roma are set to accelerate talks with Girona for Artem Dovbyk amidst Atletico Madrid interest. According to a report by Francesco Balzani of La Gazzetta dello Sport, Roma sporting director Florent Ghisolfi has begun to contact the agent of Artem Dovbyk to talk over a potential transfer this summer. Following the rejection of advances for Alexander Sorloth by Villarreal, the Italian capital side are now aiming to secure the Ukrainian striker from Girona. Atletico Madrid were a few steps away from announcing the 27-year-old as their new signing but it seems that the club have reached an impasse over personal terms with the player’s agent. Roma and other clubs are looking to take advantage of this recent crisis and make their moves soon. Girona had accepted a €40 million transfer fee for Dovbyk and they will want the same figure from any other interested club. With the signing of Matias Soule looking to be on the track, Roma will go for last season’s LaLiga top scorer in the next few days.

Celtic join Real Valladolid in £4m race to sign highly-rated Polish international midfielder

Scottish Champions Celtic are expected to join the race to sign Polish wonderkid Jakub Kałuziński this summer. Turkish outlet Sporx understands that the Hoops are huge admirers of the 21-year-old midfielder, who starred for Antalyaspor during a 10th place finish in the Turkish Super Liga last term. Kałuziński is a box to box, all-action midfielder, tipped to star for the Polish national team in years to come. The youngster, who made a name for himself at local side Lechia Gdańsk between 2020 and 2023, arrived at Antalyaspor last summer after a series of impressive performances in the Ekstraklasa, Poland’s top-flight. He has represented his nation regularly at U19, U20 and U21 level and was recently introduced to the provisional senior squad for Euro 2024, where he made his competitive debut in a pre-tournament friendly against Ukraine. Kałuziński did not make the final squad for Euro 2024 but his 31 appearances in his debut campaign in Turkey have earmarked him as a future star and it is believed that Spanish La Liga side Real Valladolid are one of the frontrunners to sign the star, valued at around £4m. The Spanish side, owned by Brazil legend Ronaldo, are currently in the process of building a team that can compete in the top-flight after a second place finish in the Segunda Division last term. The club have money to invest in the team following Ronaldo’s takeover in June and reports in Turkey understand that Valladolid have submitted an opening offer of around £2m. That initial bid is expected to be knocked back and it is also understood that Celtic are watching the situation closely. The Parkhead scouts have been keeping close eyes on the midfielder for a number of years and see him as a potential replacement for last season’s loanee Paulo Bernardo, if a deal cannot be reached with Benfica. Bernardo made 33 appearances across all competitions last term, scoring three times and providing four assists. He is believed to be open to the idea of returning to Glasgow but as of yet the Hoops haven’t been able to reach an agreement on the transfer fee with the capital side.

3 reasons why Real Madrid would like to sign Trent Alexander-Arnold

Real Madrid are interested in signing Trent Alexander-Arnold. The Liverpool academy graduate has entered the Real Madrid transfer radar. However, it is more than likely that he will be targeted as a free agent in the 2025 summer transfer window, rather than right now. Still, the interest is certainly there from Carlo Ancelotti, who has become a particular fan of the way in which Trent Alexander-Arnold plays the game. A club the size of Real Madrid would like to sign the best players in the world, so it really does not come as any surprise that they have grown interested in signing Trent Alexander-Arnold from Liverpool. Here are the main 3 reasons why Real Madrid would like to sign Trent Alexander-Arnold... 1. His friendship with Jude Bellingham Real Madrid is a club with a rich history of British players. They know know the influence the Brits can have on the Real Madrid club culture, with the likes of Jude Bellingham, Gareth Bale and David Beckham proving this. Currently, Trent Alexander-Arnold has a great friendship with Jude Bellingham, one which they formed on international duty with England. Both players played a key role in England reaching their second consecutive EURO 2024 final this summer. Bringing that friendship to Real Madrid could be pivotal, as the power of international friendships has been proven with the likes of Toni Kroos and Antonio Rudiger, Rodrygo and Vinicius Junior, etc. 2. His big-game approach Trent Alexander-Arnold may not be everyone's cup of tea, if you pardon the pun, but nobody can deny he is a man for the big occasion. Key moments stick out, such as scoring the winning penalty to send England to the semifinal of EURO 2024 and providing the quick corner for Divock Origi to pounce against Barcelona. Real Madrid will certainly be involved in big games in the future, as they hope to continue their dominance on not just Spain, but the world. Having a player with the big-game pedigree such as Trent will only solidify their winning mentality. 3. Range of passing to replace Toni Kroos It is an impossible task to replace Toni Kroos, but the closer Real Madrid can get, the better. Trent Alexander-Arnold not only has the versatility to play in midfield but he at least has the range of passing to fill that Toni Kroos void. I am still under the impression that his strongest position is at full-back but there's no denying that the versatility could be of benefit to Carlo Ancelotti, particularly as he navigates the Toni Kroos retirement.
